MEETINGS 1ST AND 3RD MONDAY @ 7:30
Pay your auxiliary dues BEFORE you are sent a notice and get a free drink ticket. Check your card for your expiration date.
Send them to PO Box 401 or 156 Willow Rd Thief River Falls
Remember - if you drop your dues and re-enroll later but you have since turned 55 years of age you
are no longer elegible for the funeral benefit. Once a beneficial member you will always be a beneficial member UNLESS
you drop your membership. You will lose all the time you paid into it which is the purpose for the $1 more than the
non-beneficial members. That is pretty cheap insurance I'd say. So it is important that you don't drop your membership.
There is only 90 days after your due date to pay your dues and then by Grand Aerie law I MUST drop you from our rolls.
Our cookbook is ready for sale. Not bad for an amatuer and would be in your hands by Christmas.
Submit your request for one to Lillian, Michelle or Kay. If you want you can email them right to eagles2368@yahoo.com The cost will be $15 and it has 89 pages in it in 8 x 10 size. We are printing up 100 and
will then take orders for more.
***CONGRATULATIONS****
Mother of the Year goes to Adeline Sletten.
Auxiliary History
A "new era for the women of Eagledom" was launched when an amendment to the Grand Aerie Laws passed
unanimously, establishing a Grand Auxiliary. The event took place during the 1951 Grand Aerie Convention in Rochester, New
York, August 8-12.
"It was a great moment in the history of the ladies auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles," said
Lester Loble, Past Grand Worthy President.
Auxiliaries Trace Roots to 1927
Actually, Eagles auxiliaries existed long before the Grand Auxiliary was formed, with the first dating
back to March 24, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Kansas. Three days later, the second auxiliary was instituted in Frontenac, Kansas.
By March, 1951, 965 local auxiliaries were in existence, boasting 130,000 members. By the end of that
year, 22 state and provincial auxiliaries were operating.
"The progress made in the last 24 years is a solid foundation on which Eagle Auxiliaries must continue
to build," said Mrs. Eagle magazine, which began publishing in 1948.
Hello Sisters,
Wow – where did the summer go. Another season is beginning and we have a few projects lined up. First thanks to those
who helped with the summer projects - picnic, Bar B Q, blood drive just to name a few. We have a few scheduled for this fall.
A rummage sale – buy a table for $10. Inside – no worry about the weather. Contact us or the office for a pre-paid
table. You don’t have to be a member either. The money will go to help local charities who are struggling. We donated
to the Troop 59 veteran’s memorial garden last month. We have a benefit breakfast on Oct 5th for the Little
Brother/Little Sister program. Contact Kay Nelson or Tracy Anderson if you can help. The Hospice tree walk is coming the 5th
& 6th of Dec. Can you help with baked goods for their sale? Contact one of the officers. Keep us in mind for
meeting nights if you want to join us. We meet the 1st and 3rd Monday at 7:30pm. I would like to give
my sympathies to all who have lost loved ones recently but especially to the families of Past President Muriel Steinhauer
and Charter Member Esther Anderson. They both were a big part of our past as an auxiliary.
Have a wonderful fall Thanksgiving. Our lives will heat up and we will be very busy with our kids in school but don’t
forget to stop at the club and support our efforts to be the best club in town. Your financial support both from paying your
dues and stopping at the bar help us to be a big contributor to our community projects and charities. It’s amazing how
much we give out.
Your President – Mick Hunt

Hello Auxiliary Sisters,
Wow another year has come and gone. I start my 18th year as your secretary. Where does the time go. This is starting out
to be a tough year though. We are losing sisters left and right. We need you to continue. We sadly lost several to death this
year. Our sympathy goes to the families of those sisters. We only have 2 charter members left now out of the original 50+.
Some have quit with non payment of dues. Remember if you drop you lose your benefits. We had 2 members that passed this past
6 months who dropped and therefore lost their benefits with the Grand Aerie. That’s $200 their families could have used.
It might not sound like alot but if you’ve been paying for years why stop now. The state membership theme this year
is gaining 1 more member than you lose. We will have a struggle this year but I think we can do it. Please remember your friend
or family member when thinking of someone to ask to join our auxiliary. Help us to continue to be “PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE”
that we strive to be. Ask for a membership form and sign someone up today. Remember if you pay your dues before I send you
a dues notice you get a free drink ticket. You can find your dues date on your card under “dues paid to” Check
it out and save the auxiliary some money by not having to send out a notice.
