Why Join the Fraternal Order of Eagles?

Our mission statement sums up the reasons why our members join, why they participate and thrive in their local aeries and auxiliaries.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, an international non-profit organization, unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.

If you want to make a difference in your life and the lives of those in your community start with an organization that lives and breathes service to its country.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles was founded in 1898 and since that time has given more than $100 million to local and national charities.

  • School supplies for homeless children
  • Support for our armed forces, police and firefighters and others who protect and serve us
  • Funding to find cures for diseases such as Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, Diabetes and Cancer
  • Money to assist neglected and abused children and for the aged

With members in more than 1,700 local aeries and auxiliaries in the United States and Canada you are never far from a friend. Our members are truly a family of brothers and sisters that work hard to better our communities and world. In times of joy and in times of sorrow your Eagle family is always there for you. Whether our time is spent at a meeting, enjoying a social room or washing dishes after a successful charity dinner, Eagle members carry a sense of pride knowing that their time is well spent.

For more than 100 years the Fraternal Order of Eagles has continually worked to make the world a better place to live. We speak with pride of our past accomplishments and look forward to assisting those that cannot assist themselves. All of our members are united to preserve liberty, insist on truth, demand justice and promote equality. We do things for home, for country and for God.

Law Enforcement, EMT and Firefighter Membership Program

As approved at the 2008 International Convention in Louisville, KY, all law enforcement, EMT and firefighters in United States and Canada are eligible to become members without paying dues or per capita taxes for one year of membership. This program does include volunteer, paid, and military law enforcement and firefighters, as well as those that have dropped from our Order and have not received a free year of membership.

Eagles are a Social Group

Thousands of people are attracted to the Eagles by our social events. We are fun-loving individuals who enjoy spending time with family, friends and neighbors.

It is not uncommon to hear a long-time member say that a dance was the first Eagles function he or she attended. Others became acquainted with the Eagles when they helped out at a dinner, played bingo or tagged along on a campout. Some members joined a specific aerie or auxiliary in California so they could "soar like eagles" with other skydivers.

Eagles social activities are almost endless and range from bowling, golfing and playing horseshoes to holding cookouts, riding in parades and attending NASCAR races. We also offer many social opportunities at our regional and national conventions.

The Memorial Foundation supports children (including those legally adopted) of members who die while serving their country or at work. All Eagle members and their families are automatically protected by this unprecedented safety net.

Memorial Foundation Benefits

With the Memorial Foundation children of deceased members who die while serving their country or at work are able to attend college or vocational school with grants up to $30,000. They can also receive medical assistance including payments to physicians, dentists, orthodontists, and hospitals. The cost of eyeglasses, prescriptions, as well as medical and dental devices is also included.

Aside from member support, the Memorial Foundation also provides educational benefits to graduates of Home on the Range in Sentinel Butte, North Dakota; High Sky Girls Ranch in Midland, Texas; and Bob Hope High School in Port Arthur, Texas.
